Condrieu wines are produced from Viogniergrapes grown on steep hills in the northern part of the Rhone Valley. The soil is held back by roundpole fences and farming and harvesting is done by hand in this difficult terrain where no machines can be used. The wine is grown in south/southeastern direction in a granite soil. The grapes are let to reach considerable maturity to obtain a high sugar content.
