Château Kirwan’s “second wine” Charmes de Kirwan was initially produced in 1993 and has since then received the same care and improvements over the years as the 1st “Cru” -wine. However, “Charmes” is mainly made from grapes from younger vines. Charmes de Kirwan is made of 55% Cabernet sauvignon and 45% Merlot. The harvest is done manually and the grapes are sorted both on the vine and later in the wine cellar. The fermentation takes place in small stainless steel vats and the wine is then stored for 20-month in tulilp-shape concrete tanks and in oak barrels. 50,000 bottles are produced every year.
