Presentation vineyard

The story of Château Lalande is closely linked to the one of Château Lagrange because the property was the same 3rd Grand Cru classé 1855 until 1964 when Gabriel Meffre bought out the part from Château Lalande. The estate is located in the municipality of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, along the road of the great wine-castles, such as Château Lagrange and Château Talbot, located aside of the mouth of the Gironde River. The Château Lalande includes 15.5 hectares in one piece, located on a gravel plateau planted with grape varieties that have undergone a careful selection to create elegant wines with great finesse. The average age of the vine is thirty years and the grape varieties are 53% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Merlot. Production is about 140 barrels a year.

Sommelier's advice

A dark ruby red color. The nose is dominated by toasted elements, but also by pleasant fruity aromas of marmalade made of red berries. The taste attack is soft with a juicy taste and slightly fleshy in consistency. The tannins are rounded. A comfortable and harmonious Saint-Julien without exaggeration in power. To serve to a lamb roast.

Château Lalande is made from 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot. The harvest is done manually and mechanically. Cooling maceration for 48h before fermentation. Traditional vinification in temperature controlled concrete and steel tanks for 3 weeks. Malolactic fermentation in steel tanks. Then storage for 12 months on oak barrels, of which some are new depending on the vintage.
