Château Malescasse is a Haut-Médoc – Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, made from 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet-Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot.
Viticulture is carried out according to the standard for Reasonable agriculture. No herbicides are used. Manual harvesting done in small boxes of 4 kg to preserve the berries.
The grapes are fermented at a temperature of between 26° and 28°C. Regular pressing down of skins and seeds that stays at the surface (pigeage). It allows to extract extra tannins. Fermentation takes 4 weeks. The malolactic fermentation is done in barrels, of which 30% in new oak barrels. Vertical pneumatic press of the wine and then 14 months of storage in oak barrels, of which 35% are new oak barrels.
