Presentation vineyard

The history of Domaine Boudau began in the 1920s. The entire wine production went at that time to the production of the, for the region, so typical and sweet Rivesaltes and Muscat de Rivesaltes wines. The production of dry wines started in the 1940s. At that time, grenachevines from the well reputated Chateauneuf-du-Pape was brought to the property. This was the start of the production of Côtes-du-Rhône-inspired wines, but including the typical characteristic elements given by the Roussillon soil. Today it's Veronique and Pierre Boudau who run the family business and with great efforts in both quality improvement and in the cultivation of new varieties, the winery can now offer very competitive and high-quality wines. No control agents are used and the vineyard regularly receive awards for their wines.

Sommelier's advice

A deep and beautiful garnetred color. Powerful but elegant aromas of undervegetation, spicy hints of ripe black berries. A beautiful finishing with elegance- a generous slightly sweet flavor reminding of black currant and cherry. An elegant and powerful overall impression, good tannins that give a wine with depth and good structure. To be drunk to fish types with firm flesh such as cod or salmon, sea crayfish, chicken, a red steak or a good strong cheese.

“Le Clos” is a very well made and affordable red wine that is often included in the representative wineguides. “Le Clos” is made of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah grapes and was produced the first time in 1997 when the Boudaus wanted to develop “a pleasant wine with good aromatic properties.” The grapes are picked by hand and the wine is stored in steel tanks to retain its fruity and berry structure.
