Presentation vineyard

The Château d'Astros is located in the heart of the Provencal rosé wine production, more specifically in the village of Vidauban. It's in the 1100s that the Templars settle down on the fertile plain of the Argens river. The Maltese Order takes over in 1314, during the Philippe le Bel era and then raises in 1637 the main building to the castle. The estate was then nationalized during the French Revolution. But in 1802, Napoleon Bonaparte's government needed money and all the national assets that had been nationalized during the revolution against bad payment were auctioned. Thus, Maximin Martin, a protestant industrialist from the Marseille soap industry, aquired the the castle. Today, 200 years later, Bernard Maurel, still from the same family, is the owner of the 80 hectare large-scale wine plantation that is mainly used for the production of rosé wine.

Sommelier's advice

A bright salmon pink color with golden hues. The nose is fruity with hints of red berries and white flowers. The palate is light, well-balanced with aromas of red berries. A very affordable rosé wine to serve as an aperitif and to pair with southern European food with garlic.

Astros – Augustine – Rosé wine from Château d’Astros is produced from Grenache, Caladoc and Cinsault grapes. After harvesting, the grapes undergo a slight cooling maceration with shells to extract as much flavor as possible. Then the grapes are pressed without exaggeration, only to extract the best must. The deepest bottom set is removed (debourbage) and alcohol fermentation begins at a maximum 17 ° C temperature for 15 to 20 days.
