Presentation vineyard

Domaine de Tanella from southern Corsica was founded in 1855 and the winery has always been preserved within the family, Peretti Della Rocca. The vineyard belongs to the microappellation Figari, which is probably the area where they began producing wine in Corsica already back in 500 BC. Viticulture here is very difficult since the winds between Sardinia and Corsica often blow hard. The soil is poor with a composition of clay, granite and limestone and primarily local and well-adapted grape varieties are cultivated here. Domaine de Tanella is wonderfully located only 3 km from the sea, not far from the town of Porto-Vecchio. The cultivated grape varieties are the typically Corsican Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu and Vermentinu. Syrah is also cultivated to a certain extent. The wines from Tanella are subtle with great finesse!

<p>A warm golden color with silvery tints. Powerful but sophisticated aromas with hints of ripe fruit. Stylish, round, elegant palate with hints of ripe pear and some citrus. A pleasant light bitterness in the final. A very good wine for aperitif which also goes well with lighter meals such as a quiche lorraine or a "foody" salad.</p>

Cuvée Alexandra, named after the family’s daughter, Alexandra, is made from 100% Vermentinu grapes. On Corsica, Vermentino is spelled with “u”. Many Italian words ending with an “o” are the same in Corsica but spelled with a “u” in Corsica. Cuvée Alexandra is fermented at low temperature (18 °) and stored on glasscovered concrete tanks.
