Presentation vineyard

François Villard is a cook by training, he early developed his passion for wine. He began to acquire his first wasteland in the town of St Michel in the Condrieu appellation. The first vine was planted in the spring of 1989. The first Condrieu was produced in 1991. While his first vinifications took place in Verlieu, in a cellar behind Yves Cuilleron, he decided to build his own building in 1996 in St Michel Sur Rhône. It was also on this date that he embarked on the adventure of reviving the Seyssuel vineyard with his colleagues Yves Cuilleron and Pierre Gaillard. The estate now has more than 40 hectares of vines, supplemented with some purchases of grapes and produces around 400,000 bottles per year. All the work in the vineyard is done entirely manually and the estate has been in organic conversation on the Ecocert label since August 2019. The attention paid to the vines and the care taken to preserve these specific terroirs are constant and accompany the cultivation throughout the year. The harvest is decided plot by plot so that each bunch is harvested with perfect maturity.

Sommelier's advice

A dark, deep red color. The nose is fruity with hints of blackberries and black currants. Some spiciness that blends well with the overall scent. The palate is round, full-bodied and ripe. Needs some aeration and could be stored for a couple of years. To serve with a roast lamb with herbs or with a cheese platter.

Certitude from Domaine François Villard is a slightly spicy and full-bodied Crozes hermitage with a lot of charm. 100% Syrah grapes grown in Beaumont-Monteux, Mercurol and Chanos-Curson. The grapes are picked in bunches. Fermentation for 10 days in open steel tanks and oak barrels. Storage takes place in oak barrels and “cuves tronconiques” for 11 months, then another 8 months in steel tanks.
