Presentation vineyard

Domaine Gaujal belongs to the Gaujal family since 1744. Laurent Gaujal has taken over the winery after his father Ludovic since 2013. The vineyard is located near the Etang de Thau, a saltwater pond close to the Mediterranean where oysters are cultivated. The vineyard includes 30 hectares of land - of which 12 hectares are Picpoul. Other grapes such as Merlot are also grown. The soil calcareous with a large amount of limestone, which gives the Picpoul wine a very special mineralism.

Sommelier's advice

A ruby red color with brilliant hues. Aromas of red berries, mainly of black currant. A very fruity, juicy and well-balanced red wine with a fine concentration that suits most things, even as an aperitif. Serving at 15-17 ° C temperature.

Merlot from Domaine Gaujal is made from 100% Merlot grapes grown in the area around l'Etang de Thau in the Languedoc. The grapes are harvested by hand at perfect maturity. The vinification is done according to the classic method at low temperature to create the best possible freshness. The wine is bottled in February the year after the harvest.
