Bricco Barone is an area on the hills of Monforte d’Alba, in the village of Rinaldi. The grapes here create a robust Nebbiolo d’Alba for long storage. The grapes are de-stemmed and crushed after harvest and fermented for 20 days in steel tanks with the skins. The fermentation is done with natural yeast at a controlled temperature. The malolactic fermentation is carried out immediately after. The wine is stored in barrels for a couple of months and then put into steel tanks. The wine is filtered and bottled in October of the following year after the harvest. The wine is then stored in the bottle for a further 2 months at 14°C before sale.
