Presentation vineyard

Produttori del Barbaresco is a grouping of 54 different winegrowers. In 1894, Domizio Cavazza created the «Cantine Sociali di Barbaresco». He was then rector of the College of Enology in Alba and lived in Barbaresco, where he owned the castle and the neighboring farm. He gathered nine winegrowers and owners around him and started making wine in the castle's cellar. He named the wine after the village. Previously, all the wine from Barbaresco had been used to make Barolo and simple table wines. The wine cooperative was closed in the 1920s, but in 1958 Don Fiorino Marengo, then parish priest of Barbaresco, gathered nineteen farmers and founded Produttori del Barbaresco. Today, the cooperative has a reputation as one of the most prestigious wineries in the area and is an example of cooperative farming worldwide. The cooperative has 50 members with approximately 110 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards (1/7 of the original area) and controls most of the area's historical wines.

Sommelier's advice

A lighter ruby red color. The nose has intense aromas of red berries, white pepper and anise. The palate is fruity with well-balanced acidities. To pair with a Caesar salad, a buffet or with grilled meat.

Produttori del Barbaresco – Langhe Nebbiolo – Red wine is produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in southern, western and eastern directions over 118 hectares of land in different areas of the Langhe. The fermentation is done in cement tanks at 28° C for 20 days with the grape skins. The must is pumped into new tanks twice a day. Then the malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine is bottled in September. Approximately 140,000 bottles are produced/year.
