The name of the so typical Puglia grapevariety “Negroamaro” comes from the local dialect “Niuru-maro”, meaning “Black & Purple” and refers to the wine’s dark red, close to black color and the characteristic sharpness in the flavor. The grape Negroamaro was likely introduced to Italy by the Greeks more than 1500 years ago. Vinosia’s Orus Negroamaro is made from 100% Negroamaro grapes grown in chalky clay soil and the harvesting takes place in mid-September.
